Gift Transfer
A gift transfer moves ownership of a property to someone else without payment, registered at the Dubai Land Department.
Definition
DLD’s Property Gift Registration service covers transferring a property, in full or in part, to “first-degree relatives; mother, father, spouse, or children or to companies” without compensation, provided the property is not restricted or granted land. The page lists the registration fee as “0.125% of the property valuation with a minimum fee of AED 2,000”. It also asks for proof of the relationship.
What it shows — and what it does not
Registration of a gift shows that ownership has passed without a price. It does not settle questions outside DLD, such as tax treatment abroad or family arrangements — those are for the parties and their advisers.
Example
Illustrative example: a father gifts his apartment to his daughter. They provide proof of the relationship, the fee is calculated on DLD’s valuation of the property, and a new title deed is issued in her name.
