DEWA
DEWA is the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, which supplies electricity and water in Dubai.
Definition
The UAE Government portal states that DEWA “is responsible for the supply of water and electricity to consumers within the emirate of Dubai”, and that “Getting electricity and water connection is digitally integrated with Dubai Land Department.” DEWA’s clearance certificate service states that for property sellers the clearance certificate is sent by e-mail “upon settlement of the outstanding dues/final bill of the premise.”
What it shows — and what it does not
DEWA settles the seller’s final bill and sets up the new account; DLD’s sale registration page does not list a DEWA clearance among its required documents.
Example
Illustrative example: when the property is sold, the seller settles the final bill and receives DEWA’s clearance certificate by e-mail, and the buyer arranges a new account for the property.
