Broker
A broker is a licensed real estate agent who markets property or finds buyers in Dubai.
Definition
DLD’s Real Estate Brokerage Practice Guide states that “A real estate licence must be first be obtained from the licensing authorities” and that “An application for a broker card must be submitted through the Trakheesi system.” It describes Contract A as “An agreement to market a property between the seller and the real estate brokerage” and Contract B as “An agreement of desire to purchase a property between the buyer and the real estate broker”. DLD’s broker card service requires a certificate of good conduct from Dubai Police and passing the annual test.
What it shows — and what it does not
A broker arranges the deal; the transfer itself is registered by DLD. Ask to see the broker’s card before you sign Contract A or B.
Example
Illustrative example: a seller signs Contract A with a licensed brokerage, which finds a buyer who has signed Contract B; the parties then sign Contract F.
