UAE Citizen
A UAE citizen is a national of the UAE. UAE nationals may own property anywhere in Dubai.
Definition
Law No. (7) of 2006 provides that “The right to own Real Property in the Emirate will be restricted to UAE nationals, nationals of the Gulf Cooperation Council member states and to companies fully owned by these, and to public joint stock companies”, with non-UAE nationals allowed freehold ownership in designated areas. DLD’s Property Gift Registration page asks UAE citizens for a “Marriage contract for married individuals or Family Book” as proof of relationship.
What it shows — and what it does not
Citizenship affects where a person may own and which relationship documents they provide; identity at registration is still shown with the Emirates ID.
Example
Illustrative example: a UAE national gifting land outside the freehold areas to a son proves the relationship with the Family Book.
